US 84 COMPREHENSIVE CORRIDOR STUDY
Liberty County, Georgia

Reynolds, Smith & Hills and Lott + Barber collaborated on a comprehensive corridor study of US 84 for the Liberty County Consolidated Planning Commission (LCPC). This study was multi-jurisdictional in scope and included a portion of Long County, Liberty County, and five local governments. It was conducted in concert with the update of the Liberty County Comprehensive Plan.

While the study grew out of the key transportation issues of safety, access management, and congestion management, this corridor study was unique in that it involved a comprehensive approach to land use, natural resources, housing, and other community elements as they related to transportation issues.

Recognizing the inherent relationships between transportation and almost every other community element, the LCPC determined that a comprehensive approach to planning transportation improvements within the corridor was necessary. The analysis of existing and future land use, as well as current and anticipated development, was performed as part of this study. Broad corridor redevelopment strategies and resulting opportunities were also identified.
