Connecting Savannah: Moving People - Making Neighborhoods, is a public participation-based transportation planning process to address long-term mobility in the Savannah area, especially as related to connectivity between the eastern and western portions of the city and Chatham County. Connecting Savannah focuses on early stakeholder involvement in identification of mobility issues as well as potential solutions.
Actively engaging those with a stake in the outcome, especially those impacted by recommended changes, the approach to works with a variety of stakeholder groups in their own settings, at their preferred meeting times and locations to understand community values, concerns and interests; identify opportunities for both short and long term improvements; confirm the feasibility of options; and identify what alternatives merit additional study.
- Over 300 citizens, businesses, and community leaders participated in the eight-month process
- Lott + Barber created four photorealistic renderings to illustrate transportation improvement alternatives
- The process concluded with unanimous adoption of the Connecting Savannah recommendations
