Lott + Barber is currently working on the design for the Herty Hall Expansion on the campus of Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville. Before beginning the design work on three story addition, Lott + Barber worked with the University to determine the site location, program and cost of the new facility.
The original Herty Hall building was constructed in 1954 housing primarily wet labs, classrooms, and support space. In 1972 a three-story expansion more than doubled the size of the building with new labs, support space, classrooms, and faculty offices. The latest addition will be located to the south of the 1972 addition and house 3 teaching labs, 4 studio research labs, 2 faculty research labs, 3 faculty office/labs, science education center, 2 instrument rooms, storage and a 64 seat studio lab.
The new expansion will let the Department of Chemistry and Physics and the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences expand into much needed state-of-the-art facilities and utilize the latest in teaching methods in new interactive laboratory spaces.
